Drum Castle, near Aberdeen in north east Scotland.

In about 1306 William De Irwin, son of the Laird of Bonshaw joined with family friend Robert the Bruce in the revolt to oust the English from Scotland. and when Robert was crowned King in 1323 William was rewarded with Drum Castle and adjoining lands. Thus starting another branch of the Irving clan referred to as the IRVINE of Drum branch in eastern Scotland.
