It is believed that the name John Geary is in tribute to John W. Geary, a war hero and governor of Pennsylvania at the time. John was born in Utah Territory while his father was in the US Army stationed there. His 2nd marriage registration gives his birth location as Salt Lake City, maybe not accurate. If Capt. Foulk John's father was assigned to Camp Douglas, that was at Salt Lake City, but there where other US Army posts in the Utah Territory.

John and Anna divorced and both remarried. John married in New Hampshire in 1925 a Josephine (Gillmore) Lynn; see marriage registration source document. That marriage did not last for he married again before 1930.

We have a Brooklyn, NY census record of John married to Susie who already had a daughter (Susie M. Gillis). In 1940 John is divorced and is a lodger in New York City. He probably was divorced, at least separated, from Susie by 1935 based on the 1940 census stating he lived in the same boarding house in 1935.

John's first wife Anna also remarried and lived in Brooklyn, NY.

It appears that Linus Dudley moved to the Boston, MA area to work a few years before the death of his father. Later his mother and younger sister (Mabel) joined him in Massachusetts.

OCCUPATION: Bookbinder, per Death Certificate, and Census Records, although 1930 census indicates he was a shipping clerk for a medical company.

Served during the Spanish American War - per Death Certificate.

DEATH: Cause of death: Neck Fracture, Heat Prostration. Address at time of death: 134 Warren, Brooklyn, NY. He had been a resident of New York for 30 years.
