• Notes

  Refer to Pierce's Foster Genealogy page 486. However, we believe Pierce has the wrong parents for this Richard. Estate Administration in Prerogative Court of Canterbury 3 May 1630. He died Intestate (without a will) and the care of his minor children was assigned to his brother-in-law (John Bigge). The children named were: Mary, John, and Hopestill. relic (widow) Patience renounced the court findings. Richard and Patience had two male children named John both died young (before 1630). There is no baptism record in Biddenden for a third son John. However, Richard's brother Thomas had a son John (b. 1610) and Thomas died in 1626. SPECULATION: It is possible that Thomas' son John was taken in by Richard - thus there would be a minor child John in Richard's household when Richard died in 1630.
