• Notes

  See pages 413-414 in Pierce's Book (Foster Genealogy). He was left an orphan at age six and went to live with his uncles in Warren, then Brimfield. At age fifteen he went to Monson to work in the woolen mills. In 1869 he removed to Springfield to work for the railroad. In 1874 he was elected deacon of the North Congregational Church (Springfield). Served as chaplin of the Hampden lodge of masons.
